Booking Upholstery, Area Rugs and Tile With the Carpet Job: Scheduling Combined Visits

The best carpet cleaning visits are rarely just carpet. A customer getting three bedrooms done also wants the sofa. A family with a new rug in the dining room wants it cleaned too. Someone with a kitchen full of dingy grout asks if you do tile while you are there. Every one of those is more revenue from a visit you were already making, with no extra drive.

They also make the visit longer, and that has to show on the schedule.

From Estimate to a Fuller Visit

The last guide, From Approved Estimate to Scheduled Carpet Cleaning Job, covered how an approved estimate becomes a job. Combined visits often start the same way, with upholstery or a rug on the estimate, or they get added when the customer calls to book.

Everything on One Job

In CarpetBossPro, the carpet job details on every job and estimate include more than rooms. There are checkboxes for Upholstery, Area Rug, Mattress and Tile & Grout, alongside the rooms and the add-ons like pet odor treatment, stain protector and deodorizer. The line items come from your service list: sofa, loveseat, chair, sectional, area rug, mattress, tile and grout, whatever you set up.

Keeping it all on one job means one visit on the board, one card on the tech's phone and one invoice. The tech sees “3 bedrooms, hallway, sofa, area rug” on the card and loads the van with what they need.

Size the Visit, Not Just the Carpet

The most common scheduling mistake with combined visits is booking them as if they were carpet only. A sectional, a set of dining chairs or a kitchen of tile and grout adds real time. When you put a combined visit on the dispatch board, look at the whole job:

You know your crew's pace. The job details make sure whoever builds the schedule sees the whole visit. Planning job length was covered in How Long Does a Carpet Cleaning Job Take? Planning Job Length by Rooms and Square Feet.

Put Big Combined Visits Early

A combined visit is usually the biggest job of the day. Treat it as the anchor:

Auto-route the van, then move the combined visit to the top by hand if it did not land there.

Add-Ons on the Day

Plenty of combined visits are not planned. The customer sees how the bedrooms came out and asks about the couch. The tech notes the request, and the office adds the upholstery as a line item from the service list, so the price comes from your list and the invoice matches. When the tech taps Complete, the invoice is created and the card on file can be charged.

If an add-on on the day will push the rest of the route late, the office can see it on the board and text the next customers early, or move a later job to another day.

Carry It Forward

When the customer comes due again, the new job fills in from that home's last job. If last year included the sofa and the dining room rug, this year's job starts with them too. The office can confirm with the customer when booking: “Same as last time, carpets plus the sofa and rug?” That is an easy yes, and it keeps combined visits combined year after year.

Combined Visits in Busy Season

During the holiday rush, adding upholstery, rugs or tile to visits already on the board is often better than adding more stops. It brings in more per visit without more drive time, as long as the extra work is sized onto the schedule. The tech checklist covers upholstery, area rug and tile cleaning when they are on the job, so nothing gets skipped.

More Work, Same Driveway

Combined visits are some of the best work a carpet cleaner can schedule. Put everything on one job, size the visit honestly and let it carry forward. To see how job details, the dispatch board and routing work together, visit the CarpetBossPro carpet cleaning scheduling software page.
