Tile and Grout Cleaning Software for Carpet Cleaners: Quoting, Scheduling and Checking Off Hard Floors
A lot of carpet cleaning companies end up in tile and grout almost by accident. A customer asks if you can do the kitchen floor while you're there. You say yes, buy the tools, and soon tile is a real part of the business. The trouble is that tile often stays on the side of the system: quoted from memory, written in notes, and billed as “extra.” It works better as a first-class service.
Hard Floors Next to the Soft Ones
Mattresses were covered in Mattress Cleaning as a Service Line: Adding Mattresses to Quotes, Jobs and Invoices. Tile & grout is the hard-floor version of the same idea: real services with real prices, on the same job as the carpet.
In CarpetBossPro, Tile & Grout is a checkbox on every job and estimate. The square feet and number of rooms you already track for carpet are on the same record. That means one home can carry its carpeted bedrooms, its tile kitchen and its tile bathrooms in one place, and the next job at that home fills in from the last one.
Quoting Tile by the Square Foot
Tile is one of the few services where square-foot pricing almost always makes sense. A small bathroom and a large open kitchen are very different jobs. CarpetBossPro lets you price services off the property's measurements, so if the square feet of tile are on file, the estimate can figure the price for you.
Many companies still set a minimum, so a tiny powder room floor covers the setup. Some also price grout sealing or color work separately if they offer it. The details of square-foot quoting are in Quoting Tile and Grout by the Square Foot From the Property's Measurements.
Selling Tile to Carpet Customers
The best tile leads are already your carpet customers. They trust you in their home, and they walk on their kitchen floor every day. A few easy ways to raise it:
- Add tile as an optional line on whole-house carpet estimates.
- Have the tech mention it during the final walk-through if the kitchen grout is clearly dark.
- Tag tile customers so you can follow up on the ones who said “maybe next time.”
Before-and-after photos of a kitchen floor are one of the easiest ways to show what tile cleaning does. Photos taken on the tech app are saved with the job and visible in the customer app, so the customer can show their neighbor too.
Tile on the Tech Checklist
On the tech app, the carpet cleaning checklist includes a tile step whenever Tile & Grout is on the job. The tech sees it in the flow with the walk-through, pre-vacuum, pre-treat, carpet cleaning, upholstery and rug steps, then the groom and final walk-through. Because the step only appears when tile was sold, it acts as a reminder and keeps the checklist short when tile isn't on the job.
Access notes matter on tile jobs too. Where to park the van, where to run the hose and whether the pets will be shut in all change how a kitchen job goes. Keep those on the address so they show up on every visit.
Cleaning methods for tile and grout vary, and those choices belong to your trained techs. The software keeps track of what was sold, what was done and what the customer was told.
Scheduling Tile With Carpet
Tile adds time, and it often affects the order of work in the house. When building the day on the dispatch board, give tile jobs the space they need. If one van carries your tile tools, filter the board by van and make sure tile jobs land on that van's day.
Tile-only jobs, like a kitchen and two bathrooms with no carpet, can go on the board like any other stop. Auto-route Closest First or Furthest First from the shop and adjust the order by hand. The tech's phone shows the same route. Booking these is covered in Scheduling Add-On-Only Jobs: Booking a Sofa, a Rug or a Tile Floor Without a Carpet Cleaning.
Billing Tile and Bringing It Back
When the tech taps Complete, the invoice is created with tile as its own line item, labeled with the area and price, plus sales tax. The card on file can be charged at completion, or the customer can pay online from the customer app.
Tile customers often want it done once or twice a year. Repeat cleanings are set by minimum days between visits, and the home comes due on the Waiting List automatically. The live map shows not due yet, due now and overdue pins, so you can fill a day with tile and carpet jobs in the same area. For how tile fits with upholstery, rugs and add-ons, see the CarpetBossPro upholstery cleaning software page.
Make Tile a Real Service
CarpetBossPro quotes tile and grout off the property's square feet, adds a tile step to the tech checklist and bills it as its own line.
