Logging In to the Carpet Cleaning App: Company Login Plus a Personal PIN

The login screen is the least exciting part of any app, and that is exactly how it should be. A carpet tech standing next to the van at 7:45 in the morning wants to see the first job, not reset a password. CarpetBossPro keeps sign-in short with two pieces: a company login that identifies your business, and a personal PIN that identifies the person holding the phone.

Two Pieces, Two Jobs

Getting the app onto the phone is covered in A Carpet Cleaning App That Runs in the Phone's Browser: iPhone, Android and No App Store. Once it is there, signing in is the next step.

The company login tells the app which carpet company the phone belongs to. Every tech in your company uses the same one. The personal PIN is different for each employee and is set up by the office when the employee is added. Together they answer two questions: which company, and which person.

This split matters on a carpet crew. The owner does not want to hand out the office password that opens billing and client records to every helper. Techs do not want to remember a long email and password. The company login plus a short PIN gives each person what they need and nothing more.

Why Every Tech Gets Their Own PIN

It is tempting to give the whole crew one PIN. Do not. A personal PIN is what makes the records worth having:

When a customer calls about a missed stair or a soaked hallway, the first question is who was there. With personal PINs, the answer is on the job.

Setting Up a New Employee

In the office, add the employee, give them a PIN and assign them to a van. That is it. The van assignment is what puts that van's jobs on their phone. A lead tech and a helper assigned to the same van can each sign in on their own phone with their own PIN.

On their first day, hand the new tech the company login, tell them their PIN, and have them sign in while you are standing there. Then install the app to their home screen. The whole thing takes a few minutes in the shop before the van rolls.

A few PIN habits worth setting from day one:

When Someone Leaves

Carpet companies see turnover, especially among seasonal helpers. Under the old way, a departing tech kept every gate code they were ever texted and a stack of printed work orders in their truck. With the app, gate codes and access notes live on the job behind a PIN. When someone leaves, turn off their PIN in the office and their access ends. There is no device to collect and no group text to scrub.

Their history stays. Jobs they completed, photos they took and hours they clocked are still on the records, so nothing is lost when their access is removed.

Shared Phones and Switching Techs

Some companies keep one phone in each van. That works fine. Each tech signs in with their own PIN at the start of their shift. If a different tech takes the van the next day, they sign in as themselves. The records stay accurate even though the phone is shared.

If a helper is riding along without their own phone for a day, the lead tech runs the app. That is fine for a day. For anyone who works regularly, set them up with their own PIN so their hours and work are recorded under their name.

What Happens After Sign-In

Once the tech is signed in, they land on the day's jobs in route order, set by the office on the dispatch board. From there they tap the first card, hit navigation and go. That list is the subject of the next guide, The Carpet Tech's Day in Route Order: Working the Job List From First Stop to Last.
