The Customer App: Live Route Map, Invoices and Photos for Carpet Cleaning Customers

Carpet cleaning customers ask the same handful of questions. When are you coming? How much do I owe? Can I pay with a different card? Can you come back for the sofa? When is my next cleaning? Every one of those questions is a phone call to the office — unless the customer can answer it themselves.

The Customer Sees What the Tech Saw

The photos described in Before-and-After Photos in Carpet Cleaning Software are one of the things customers find in the customer app. The rest of the app covers the questions above.

The CarpetBossPro customer app is where your customers keep track of their own service: the visit today, the bill from last week, the cleaning next spring. It works on the customer's phone, so the answers are in their pocket instead of on your office voicemail.

Think about who your customers are. A homeowner booking a yearly cleaning. A landlord who never sees the rental between tenants. A property manager with a dozen addresses. An office manager who has to forward the invoice to accounting. Each of them wants something slightly different, and each of them can get it from the same app without calling.

Today's Route on a Live Map

On the day of their cleaning, customers can see today's route on a live map: “You're stop 12 of 20 — the crew is 5 stops away.” That one line answers “when are you coming?” better than any time window the office can give over the phone.

It matters more for carpet cleaning than for outdoor trades. Somebody has to be home, the small furniture has to be picked up, and the dog has to be put away. A customer who can see the van is two stops away has time to get ready, and the tech walks into a house that is ready to clean.

Requests and Plan Sign-Ups

Customers can request service from the app — an extra room, the upholstery, a move-out cleaning at a rental. Requests land with the office and show on the Waiting List map, so they can be grouped with other jobs in the same area.

Customers can also sign up for services and pricing you offer, such as a yearly cleaning plan. You decide what the plan includes and what it costs. A customer who signs up has said yes to coming back, and their repeat cleaning is set up from there.

Invoices, Payment and the Card on File

Every invoice is in the app. Customers can see what was done, line by line — the rooms, the stairs, the pet odor treatment, the sales tax — and pay online. If their card on file has expired or they want to use a different one, they update it themselves. That ends a surprising number of phone calls and declined charges.

For customers on auto-charge, the invoice in the app is their receipt. For customers who pay when they get the invoice, it is the easiest way to pay. Billing is covered in Invoices, Card on File and Auto-Charge: Billing in Carpet Cleaning Software.

Before-and-After Photos

Customers can see the before and after photos from their jobs. A landlord who was not there for the move-out cleaning can see the result. A homeowner who forgot how bad the hallway looked can see it again. Photos sitting next to the invoice make the price easier to accept.

Alerts They Choose

Customers pick their own alert preferences: the night before, when they are next, and when the tech arrives. Some customers want all three. Some want only the night-before reminder. Letting them choose means they get the alerts that help and not the ones that annoy. Alerts are covered in their own article, Night-Before, You're-Next and Arrived Alerts for Carpet Cleaning Customers.

Rate and Refer

After a job, customers can rate the service and refer friends. Carpet cleaning grows by word of mouth — neighbors ask neighbors, and families ask family. Making it easy for a happy customer to pass your name along is worth doing.

Ratings are also useful inside the company. A low rating is a reason to call the customer before they call someone else, and to look at the job's photos and checklist to see what happened.

Fewer Calls, Better Calls

The customer app does not replace the office. It takes away the routine calls — where is the van, what do I owe, update my card — so the office has time for the calls that matter: the new customer asking for an estimate, the property manager with a building to add, the regular who wants to talk about their stubborn stain.
